The Hub City of South Texas

Alice was established in 1888 and named after the daughter of Captain Richard King, who established the King Ranch. Historically the community is associated with cattle, the vaquero and the American cowboy.

Several museums share historical artifacts about Alice and South Texas. The South Texas Museum offers an overview of the early days in the Hub City. The Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Museum showcases Tejano artists and legends in the Birthplace of Tejano music. The Maxine Flournoy Third Coast Squadron Museum is open on weekends. La Copita Ranch is available for family, business or group activities.
